Delete Your Account

Last updated: 10 August 2026

This page explains how to delete your Luminality account and the data associated with it. Luminality is operated by LUMINALITY PTE. LTD., a company registered in Singapore. You can delete your account at any time — your thoughts are yours, and so is the right to remove them.

Before you delete: export your data

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you want to keep a copy of your journal, export it first: in the app, Menu → Security & Data → Download My Data. This gives you a machine-readable copy of your entries and account information.

Delete from inside the app (recommended)

The fastest way, which removes your data immediately:

  1. Open the Luminality app and make sure you are signed in.
  2. Open the menu and go to Account Settings.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm in the dialog. Your account and data are then permanently deleted from our systems and you are signed out.

If you can't access the app

If you can no longer open the app or sign in, email [email protected] from the email address linked to your Luminality account and ask us to delete it. So we can act on the request:

  • Send it from the same email address you sign in with (Google or Apple), so we can verify ownership.
  • Use the subject line “Delete my account”.

We will verify the request and delete your account within 30 days, and confirm once it is done.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes the following from our systems:

  • Your account and profile (name and email address).
  • All of your journal entries — their text, mood, dates, and tags.
  • Any photos and audio recordings you attached to entries.
  • Your conversations with Ren, including every message in them.
  • Your prompt collection, prompt draws, and any passes or credits you hold.
  • Your app preferences and notification settings.
  • Your registered devices and push tokens, so notifications stop.
  • Your active sessions and authentication tokens — this signs you out everywhere immediately and invalidates any outstanding access tokens.

This action cannot be undone, and deleted data cannot be recovered.

What we keep, and for how long

We retain only what we must, and no longer than necessary. To be complete about it:

  • Purchase records — if you bought anything, the financial record is kept to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations. The link to your profile is removed, so the record no longer identifies you. It never includes your full card number — payment details are handled by Stripe and were never stored by us.
  • Security and audit logs — records that significant account events occurred (including the deletion itself), kept so we can detect and investigate misuse. These are retained for up to 365 days and then automatically removed. They do not contain your journal content.
  • Diagnostic data — crash reports and any session recordings already collected are held by our diagnostics provider, Sentry, and are deleted on its retention schedule — no more than 90 days after they were collected — rather than at the moment you delete your account. The recordings are masked and do not contain your journal text or photos. See our Privacy Policy.
  • Backups — where deleted data persists in an encrypted backup, it is overwritten in the ordinary backup rotation.
  • Records required by law — kept only for the period the applicable law requires, then deleted.

Everything else listed under “What gets deleted” is removed at the time of deletion.

A note on staff accounts

If your account has staff or administrator access, it cannot be self-deleted from the app — removing it is handled as part of offboarding. Contact [email protected].
